Open floor plans took off about 15 years ago, but their time in the sun may be ending. This month, we’re looking at seven home features Millennials are ready to move on from, according to Real Simple, and why.

The biggest one we’re seeing is buyers stepping back from a truly open layout. Homeowners have lived in these spaces and found they lack definition. Clutter piles up with no place to put things, and there’s no quiet corner for homework or remote work. Clients still want an open sightline from the kitchen into the family room, but that’s about it. Many also want a dedicated office and play space.

Real Simple says Millennials are done with the formal dining room, but Lori and I still hear from clients of every age who want a dining space outside the kitchen. Many would give up the living room before they’d give up the dining room. Do you disagree with anything on the list?
